Need
a Sturdy Little Loom?? Try my
STUDENT
BEAD LOOMS
the 4 Sacred
Medicines are embedded in the Uprights.
Semah, Cedar,
Sweetgrass, and Sage.
Art & Spirit
are one.
Every
Student loom has the Four
Sacred
Plants
hidden beneath 4 tight wooden plugs: Semah (Tobacco), Cedar,
Sweetgrass, and Sage. All hand gathered or gifted, nothing bought.
Treat
your loom with respect and it will be
good to you.
100% satisfaction assured.
5"
wide, 7" deep. 10" tall. This
loom is really handy. It can handle a good sized piece of beadwork, the
capacity is 3.25"
x 25". That is emogh for many smaller belts, or a pipe bag panel, or
medicine bag. It can hold epaulets or arms bands for the younger men.
Many things will fit easily on this handy-sized loom. It was created
originally for some Younger Beaders, show needed a sturdy little loom
of their own, but Adults find it hand as well. After wrapping the warp as a
continuous thread (wrap & tie, as
described on this
page), (or for widest work, use
the wide warping method) you set the tension bar with the elastic
that comes
with your loom ( if you ever lose these, you can replace with hair ties). There
are photos of both warping methods below. As you do your work, you roll it
down and around the loom by relasing the tension. This is a good
size loom as a gift, for a
beginner, or as a traveling hobby on the road, or when sitting around
the drum.

When attaching the Tension Rod on
the Student Loom,. I usually wrap the elastic 3 times around the rod,
and then pull just one loop from each end over to the peg. Keep in mind that you do not have
to use the high tension, I don't always use a tension rod when I work.

This
is a handmade item, it is
not finished with any
toxic or "non-toxic" anything. It is natural pine, that allows the
Medicines to "breathe" as they carry a living spirit.
Everything is sanded
silky smooth,
with comfortable
lightly rounded ends and edges. Minimum amount of metal used, only as
required. There is a Magnet to rest your needle on both uprights, for
folks right or left handed.
Every
loom is individually made,
so each is a one of a kind I would say. None of them are perfect, I
am
an Artist more than a woodworker, but they are made with slow care.
Every
bead loom is numbered and
signed by the Metis Artist (me)
who designed
and built it.
Send
me an e-mail if you have
